Tasting of the whisky Glenfiddich

The tasting of the most known whisky in the world - Glenfiddich took place in the most popular among gourmets the House of Tallinn (Sigari Maja, Raekoja plats 16).

Experts of the factory - manufacturer and representatives of this trade mark in Estonia - company Altia Eesti AS - have told about a history of a factory and features of the manufacture of the drink. The guidebook " Restaurants of Estonia " was a participant at the event and consequently published its own picture story.

When you are drinking the wonderful, one-malt whisky, Glenfiddich  (" the valley of chamoises "), you should remember, that it was made in a small town of the mountain area of Scotland and the recipe totals is more than hundreds years.

In the autumn of 1886 William Grant bought a site of the ground in a valley of the river Fiddish, its far in the mountains of Scotland. He (together with the family) constructed a new factory - Glenfiddich. The factory was started before Christmas and from 1887 began the work. Crystal-clear water (Robbie Dhu Springs), barley, clean high-mountainous air, a small sized factory, together with the William's skills have allowed the creation of an exclusive whisky, such of what Grant dreamed of.

Today Glenfiddich is one of the most popular whiskies in the world. The factory has grown considerably but its blending and processes have not been changed in any way. The Whisky is still made in the same district using the same components, as in days of Grant. In 1963 Glenfiddich began to export single malt whisky.
